Dr. Jerome Watts
Educator. Elite Official. Architect of the Fourth Crew Member.
Founder & CEO, Crew4 Officiating LLC
Dr. Jerome Watts, Founder of Crew4 Officiating LLC, brings a 33-year career in education — most of it in educational administration — and 10+ years of basketball officiating. Officiating evenings while leading schools by day, Dr. Watts advanced to IABBO Board 60 in 1996 and received an NBA Summer League invitation around 2003 — which he declined to pursue school administration. He retired from education in August 2026 and immediately launched Crew4 Officiating. Dr. Watts applies this dual domain expertise to engineer Crew4: an advanced, AI-driven (patent-pending) middleware co-pilot that resolves baseline visual blind spots with a sub-5ms production latency target.
Where Decades of Experience Meet Machine Precision
Dr. Watts spent decades on both sides of the court — as an educator shaping young minds and as an elite official managing the highest-pressure moments in competitive basketball. That dual perspective revealed a systemic gap no human crew could solve alone.
The weak-side baseline is the hardest position to cover in a three-person crew. Physical limitations, sight-line conflicts, and the speed of modern play create a structural blind spot that costs games and careers. Dr. Watts set out to engineer the solution.
Crew4 is the result: an AI-driven (patent-pending) middleware layer that acts as an automated fourth official, purpose-built to eliminate that blind spot without replacing the human judgment that makes officiating an art.
